Head Coach Sarper Turker – Sarper is in his first
year as the Marlin’s head coach. A native of Ankara, Turkey,
Turker has swum competitively for both international and collegiate
teams. His coaching experience includes serving as a Student
Assistant Coach for Henderson State University and over 10 years
teaching swimmers stroke development.
While swimming competitively at Henderson State University:
Turker was a conference champ, a 4 year conference scholar athlete,
and HSU record holder 2008. In 2008 he placed 6th
at the NCAA Division II National Championship swim meet and was
named an All American.
Turker represented Turkey in the Junior European Swim Meet in
Cyprus. There he won gold medals on relay teams and finished
second in 100 Butterfly. Also he has competed with success in
Turkish National Meets, with his team winning the Turkish National
Championship.
Assistant Coach Dave Sweere — Dave has swum for
the Maumelle Marlins for eight years, coaching for the last two
years. He currently holds all team records in the 15-18 division.
He has also swum for the Hendrix AquaKids USA Team for six years,
competing at the Long Course and Short Course State Championships
for the last five years. Also Dave swims on the Academics Plus High
school team. He is a certified lifeguard and certified in CPR
and first-aid.
Assistant Coach Kristen Conwell — Kristen has
been a Marlins assistant coach for the past four years, also she
swam competitively for nine years. She specializes in working
with younger.
Assistant Coach Janet Toland — Janet served as
the Maumelle Marlins head coach for the last four years. She has
lead the Marlins to several top finishes in
CASL. Additionally, she swam competitively in high
school.
Assistant Coach Diane Wood — Diane has served as
a Maumelle Marlins assistant coach for two years. She
specializes in working with swimmers in stroke development,
focusing on Freestyle and Backstroke. Diane swam for seven
years on a USA team in Salt Lake City. She taught swimming
lessons for eight years. She coached a stroke development
team for two years.
Assistant Coach Mark Bugg — This is Mark’s
first year to coach with the Marlins. He has been a swim
instructor for three years. Mark swam in high school in
Colorado and was named to the all area team.
Assistant Coach Libby Nye — Libby returns for her
second year as a Marlin’s assistant. She swam
competitively for a USA swim team.
Assistant Coach Shelby Cox — Shelby returns in to
her third year as a Marlin’s assistant. She currently
swims for the Little Rock Dolphin-Lasers USA team and for the
Pulaski Academy High School team. She competes at the Long
Course and Short Course State Championship winning several
individual titles. She has received an athletic scholarship to
swim for the University of Kansas this fall. Shelby has
achieved the following accomplishments swimming:

Holds Arkansas State record in 100 back

Holds Arkansas High School State record in 100 back

PA school records in: 50 free, 100 free 100 back, 100 fly, 200
free, 200 medley relay, 200 free relay

Holds multiple marlin records throughout 13 year time as a
marlin
Assistant Coach Kristianna Rutherford —
Kristianna returns for her fourth year as a Marlin’s
assistant. She swam for North Little Rock High School and USA
Swim team. While swimming for NLRHS she set the school record
in the 500 freestyle.
Assistant Coach Sally Lee — Sally returns for her
third year as a Marlin’s assistant. She currently swims
and dives for the Little Rock Central High School team, qualifying
for state in both swimming and diving. She placed
2nd in the state for diving.
Assistant Coach Juliane Pierine — Juliane returns
for her third year as a Marlin’s assistant. She
currently swims for the Mount St. Mary High School
team.
Assistant Coach Moriah Hollaway — Moriah returns
for her second year as a Marlin’s assistant. She
currently swims for the Little Rock Dolphin Laser USA swim
team.
Assistant Coach Abby Rinchuso — This is
Abby’s first year to coach for the swim team. She is
going on her tenth year of swimming for the Marlins.
